Spring Break 2017 ~Here's my Report ~My Last School Haircut ~Guinness Beef Sliders Recipe Link ~~Pinterest to Practice

Hopes of spending early morning hours relaxing on the couch
were dashed by Lucy, who is used to having her breakfast at 5:30 a.m.

Spring Break allows time for extra errands
and for some extra pampering.
Remember how well we were treated at
Hair Addictions at the time of the wedding?

Jennifer has always been our "go-to girl" for hair...
Prom, Back to School, Special Occasions.
And on this occasion, my last school haircut.

I often posed an interesting challenge.
She was able to create a the latest style
for this High School Fashion Teacher...
yet professional enough to meet with parents at conferences.

These Guinness Beef Sliders caught my Pinterest eye,
so were on our menu for St. Patricks eve.

Hubby broiled the asparagus with garlic and parmesan.

Speaking of Pinterest,
it can make correcting papers a little less tedious.

For St. Patricks Day, Hubby and I went all out
and put green food coloring in our beer.
We wanted to stay home to watch our Girls and Boys Basketball Teams
at the State AA Tournament. We enjoyed a quiet night at home.

Of course, St. Patty's Day weekend wouldn't be complete
without Hubby's Corned Beef Hash.

I hope you had a wonderful weekend.

Take care,
~Natalie

Things in My House Thursday ~The Little Things that Make Me Smile ~~St. Patrick's Day Blessing

I found some new ornaments for my little tree.
They were on the Christmas Clearance shelf,
however, they are perfect with my St. Patty's Day Decor.

You all know how much I love my little tree
on the vanity in my bathroom.
It provides the perfect nightlight when
I get up in the night.

The tree makes her debut with Christmas  Decor.

In February,
it's all about showing
some love.

In March, I am just not ready to put her away,
so she is adorned with green and gold shamrocks.

Happy St. Patty's Day!

Take care,
~Natalie

What'cha Workin' on Wednesday ~Preparing the Foods Lab for the Fourth and Final Term

Spring Break for the students started yesterday at 3:20.
You can see that by 3:24, the hall was clearing out.

Teachers were on duty today.
Faculty Meeting,
Department Meetings,
and Staffing Meetings.

Between meetings, I cleaned the student kitchens...
All seven of them.
The custodian provided a vacume cleaner
so I could get all of the crumbs out of the drawers.

Equipment has been inventoried, organized, and arranged.
We are ready for Monday!

I teach 10 sections of Intro to Foods.
That is 280 students...
most of the Freshman class!

This term...sections 8, 9, and 10.
I'll keep you posted on our progress.

We are making memories that I will take with me
into my retirement!

...and, I will be looking back with much fondness.

Happy Spring Break!

Take care,
~Natalie

Happy Birthday, Dear Emily

We wish the best for you on this 28th Birthday.
You were born on a Monday...
And, it was a special Monday, indeed.

Our family of four was complete.
You were the sister that Amy longed for...
and such a sweet baby.
If you'd like to see some of those baby pictures,

We all haven't been together for nearly two years.
This is the last photo I can take credit for,
so I have borrowed some photos from facebook.

It makes my heart happy to see you sisters
spending holiday time together.

Emily, you are an accomplished young woman.
This year you graduated with your Master's Degree,
and secured your dream job.

You are kind and caring,
and fun to be with.

We are so proud of the woman you have become.
Happy Birthday, Dear Emily.

Love,
Dad and Mom

On the Mend ~The Return of Winter is Our Top Story ~~My Chicken Soup Recipe Link

It has been snowing all..day..long.
About nine inches has fallen.
We just received the school reach call
for a two-hour late start.

That means that students have a two hour late start,
and teachers still report at their normal contract time.
I hope I don't get stuck!

I'm currently making adjustments to my lesson plans.

Thank you, all, for your well wishes.
I am feeling better this evening.
Hubby was thoughtful to bring a cup of soup
home from Romas after they were done playing.

The Jazz Group played both Friday and Saturday...
I was disappointed to miss out on all the fun.

Between our Winter Weather and my Influenza,
the soup from Romas really hit the spot.
Tonight I felt well enough to cook up a pot of our own.

Here is our favorite recipe for

This came across my Facebook Newsfeed this week.
I couldn't agree more!

Take care,
~Natalie

Ugh ~A Sick Day was NOT a Part of My Plan

Yesterday, my voice a little froggy.
I figured that after a quiet night at home, I'd be better today.
Not so...this morning I woke with no voice, and when I did try to talk, I couldn't stop coughing.

I wanted to set up sub plans before anyone else got to school...
not another car in the parking lot!

The first few days with new students are so important
for establishing ground rules and a good rapport.
I did not want to miss school today.

Not to mention, how much work it is to set up for a sub.
This was my desk when we went to Nick's graduation.

Pretty sure I have been bit by the Influenza Flu Bug.
Fever, body aches, freezing down to my bones,
and then too hot for the blanket.
Even my toes hurt!

Hubby brought this home from work!

My Friday Night Fun includes
Tissues, Tangerine Tea,
a Heating Pad, and my Prayer Shawl.

I can't remember the last time I felt this miserable.
Stay healthy, everyone!

Take care,
~Natalie

My Last First Day

I wanted to be there early...
to make sure everything was set.

Once my EPSON projector was ready,
and my DVD player was ready,
was ready to stand in my doorway
to great my new students.

I learned 84 new names...
and only confiscated one phone,
had to tell one student that
we don't put our feet up on the table,
and had to squelch one class-clown wanna-be!

The other 81 students are vying for
the postition of teacher's favorites!

Take care,
~Natalie

What'cha Workin' on Wednesday ~The Term Ending Lava Cake Celebration

It's the end of third term.
With Final Projects and End of Course Exams behind us,
we spent the last day of class enjoying these sweet treats.

I know there are teachers that serve on our district's calendar committee,
but I'm going to guess they don't teach a nine-weeks long term class.

Ending the term in the middle of the week just causes a whole lot of stress for the teacher.

Can I still hand in this missing assignment?
Have you corrected our tests?
I missed the final project, how do I make that up?
I need to check in my book...
I need to pay my lab fee...

And then, after a short night at home,
teachers need to be ready to meet new students,
learn new names,
introduce new course outlines,
and discuss classroom expectations.

All, while making a good first impression
and establishing a respectul teacher/student rapport.

But, this is what makes it all worthwhile.

Take care,
~Natalie
