Amaryllis Report ~This Plant Does Not Disappoint

The Amaryllis has the most beautiful blooms.

Just look at that vibrant color...

Maybe you remember my post from three weeks ago,

The buds were just starting to open.

The Amaryllis flowers are huge.

The plant was a Christmas gift from

good friends, Bob and Becky.

That pot of soil, that was delivered to our doorstep,

contained three bulbs that

I have nurtured since early December.

And this was my reward...

...a lovely contrast to the snow and ice out on our patio.

At one time there were seven buds

that appeared, ready to open.

They have graced us with their beauty for six weeks now.

Today, there are two blossoms that are still looking strong.

Thank you, Bob and Becky, for this lovely gift...

A bright spot during these winter months.

Eight Years Ago Today ~We Said Goodbye to my Mother ~And I Still Miss Her

It was eight years ago that I received

an early morning phone call.

My mother had fallen and was taken to the hospital.

It was a cold January. Hubby and I made several trips

to and from Grand Forks to be with her.

After many difficult and emotional decisions,

she was transferred to Comfort Care 

It was less than two weeks later when

I visited her for the last time.

This Poem by Henry Van Dyke was sent

to me by a good friend.

While I still miss those daily chats

on the phone with my mother. 

It is comforting to know that she was reunited

in heaven with her husband,

her siblings, and all her friends

that went before her.

Happy Birthday to our Dear Amy

Birthday Blessings today for this amazing woman,

who we are proud to call our daughter.

Our firstborn baby, who came into our lives

to make us parents...to make us a family.

 

Celebrating your birthday was always a special day

with our family and friends.

Fast forward three decades and find that smiling little girl,

now still smiling and a busy mama of two boys.

Those boys, along with their daddy,

created a special celebration for Amy

on the eve of her Birthday.

Last night was a perfect evening of

Chocolate Cake, Champagne,

a Disney Movie all together on the couch,

and extra snuggles with this little cuddle bug.

Happy Birthday, Amy.

We love you.
