When our Good Lord Sends a Sign...He doesn't Mess Around

A week ago, I was here for mom's home safety evaluation.
We found that she needed to go to Assisted Living...
...Or go home with much assistance.

A very big decision for me to make alone.
I told hubby that we would need to pray for the Lord to send me a sign...
And did he ever!

Remember my blog post?

And remember the comments?

The first to visit was Donna from CounterCrafts.
She is experiencing a similar situation with her mom.
Her words meant so much to me.

shared her mom's story.
her grandmother's story.
Other blog friends...Pam, Jodi, Rose, Suz,
Oklahoma Granny, Cathryn, Kim and Cathy...
I appreciate the kindness you have sent my way.
While we all agree that an Assisted Living facility is the best placement for mom,
They are full...

Waiting list, full...
So since yesterday, I have been here at mom's apartment.
Cleaning, sorting, organizing,
"DeCluttering", as the therapist recommends.
I have learned about Social Security, Medicare,
Human Services, Home Health Care,
Handicap Accessable Ramps, Life Alert Systems,
Grab Bars and Shower Seats...
And, that's just for starters...

I'm sure it's not easy for you to make decisions on your own, so it's wonderful you've turned your concerns over to the Lord. Such a blessing to have Him help you at this time!

I remember helping my grandmother "declutter" her home. It was not easy because she was such a pack-rat and remembered how every thing came into her possession! Some of the food items we had to toss while she was at church and some of her handicrafts were boxed and stored. After her husband (my grandfather) passed away, it took the family several years to go through his storage sheds and garages...

I feel for you.

BTW--that tatted bookmark is beautiful and reminds me of what my grandmother used to do.

There's so much to learn, isn't there. I have a dear friend that has recently had a similar experience and I'm thinking the time will be coming soon for my husband to learn a few things. The last few times we've visited with his mother we've noticed a difference. In fact he remarked just the other evening that he thinks her age is catching up to her. I will continue to keep you in my prayers.

So, what does this mean? I feel for you. Though, I would love to help you organize your moms darling things!

So much to do, so much to go through, trust in the Lord, our questions are always answered (not always in the way we want, of course..) but Grandma used to say that "If it's right, it's easy".. I will pray for the easy thing to come your way.

Certainly not an easy time in your life or in hers....what is meant to happen will happen...and it will be the right thing.

I was wondering how this was going. So, I suppose she is on the waiting list of the waiting list? And until then, you will get some help at home for her?
I feel for you Natalie, as this is a decision that we will all (hopefully) have to make one day.
Hugs to you...Suz

ps. I loved all the photos here...gives us a feel of your Mom and you.

Natalie,

I'm sure things will work out as they "should". You have faith in God and have trusted in his wisdom. I would hate to have to make this decision regarding a parent alone, so I feel for you but know you will make the right one.
