Where the Week Went ~What We Did for Fun

It’s been over a week since my last “What’cha Workin’ On” post.
For these Retired Empty Nesters, nearly every day is the same
with House Chores and Projects.

No one needs to see photos of me cleaning,
So this week’s report is about what we did for fun.
I enjoyed lunch with friends here at the Marketplace on the Plaza.

We returned to the Plaza two days later for the Downtown Concert…
A little Honky Tonk Country Music by the
Chad Cooke Band from Texas.

Hubby and I checked out the Kuhnert Arboretum.
The walking paths feature beautifully manicured plants and flowers.
No one else was there.

There are several opportunities along the way to stop
and tap out a tune on the chimes.

The Park recently added playground equipment to the area.
There’s a stage for performances and picnic tables
for families to enjoy a summer outing.

I know a couple of young boys that would have fun
rock climbing to reach the top of this slide.

After our peaceful stroll in nature, we stopped here,
for our weekly Dive Bar Burger.
Do you see my Hubby?

Our weather is typical for the last week of July.
Lizzie is still alive…she’s just Hot.

And this would be the reason why.

I guess it’s cooler in the herb garden.

Have a beautiful weekend, everyone.
Stay cool.

Take care,
~Natalie

What’cha Workin’ on Wednesday ~Looking for the Blog Worthy in our Everyday Routine ~Much Miscellaneous

Two weeks have passed since we said goodbye to our family.
They are settled into their routine at home.
This Papa and Gigi are finding a balance between
everyday house chores, being creative, and a little fun.

We had a Burger at our favorite neighborhood “Dive Bar”.

Our microwave had started sparking inside,
so we needed to go shopping.

I tried another new recipe for cookies.
The dough used basic ingredients.

However, as their name implies, Kitchen Sink Cookies,
clean out the pantry and use the partial bags of sweet add-ins.
Chocolate Chips, Peanut Butter Chips, Butterscotch Chips,
Toffee Bits, Pretzels, and Pecans.

I wasn’t prepared to see this when running errands.

And I was shocked when I walked past this aisle.

Check this appointment off my to-do list for another six months.

Here are those yummy Kitchen Sink Cookies.

And the Witches are nearly finished.

Helper Cat misses her little playmates.
However, she has been staying busy keeping up
with these Retired Empty Nesters.

I hope y’all had a Wonderful Wednesday.
Take care,
~Natalie

Our Family’s Visit ~When it’s Hot, We Go To The Movies ~Saying Goodbye

The last day at Papa and Gigi’s House was going to be a hot one.
The most sensible plan was to spend some time in AC,
so we loaded up the car and went out to the Movie Theater.

It was Henry’s first time to
see a movie on the big screen.
He was too excited to pose
for a photo.

We were the only family in the Theatre…
yep, we had the place to ourselves.

I don’t want to spoil the story for you, but both boys cheered toward the end.

A Disney movie doesn’t disappoint and
there’s usually a good message for all of us.

It looks like the boys are already making plans
to take their Daddy to another movie.

Then there were only a few hours until
we need to leave for the airport.

Bag checked.
Boarding Pass in Hand.
TSA Pre-Check Success.
And another wave for Papa and Gigi.

Up, up, and Away.
Thanks for the Sweet Summer Memories.
‘Till we see you again.

Take care,
~Natalie

A Visit from Family ~We Couldn’t Get Enough of Storybook Land

When one’s community is home to an attraction like Storybook Land,
it’s necessary to go often. We went three times, to be exact…
Just like when their Mama and Aunty were little girls.

And how do you get there?
You follow The Yellow Brick Road, of course.

🎶 Follow, Follow, Follow, Follow,
Follow the Yellow Brick Road 🎶

There’s a variety of things to do at Wylie Park.
We enjoyed the Theatre Production in The Castle.

We had fun on the Playground Equipment.

Climbing, Swinging, Balancing, Jumping,
Running, and Sliding.

We visited The Land of Oz.

We rode the train to see all the animals in the Zoo.

And we found The Pot of Gold at the End of the Rainbow.

Storybook Land is fun for the Young
and the Young at Heart.

So long for another year…
See you next Summer!

Take care,
~Natalie

When Family Comes to Visit ~Spending Time with Great Grandma ~Four Generations Photo ~Priceless

Great Grandma loves when
our family comes home for a visit.

At the age of 93, she still lives in her own home,
and still has the toys that her own children,
and our daughters played with.
Those are truly Vintage Toys.

Great Grandma treated us to Pizza for dinner.
While waiting for that delivery, we toured her backyard.

Later in the weekend, we prepared dinner in our home.
An Independence Day Menu of Hot Dogs on the Grill,
Pasta Salad, Chips, and Fresh Fruit.

Jack had stories to tell…

…and entertained our guests
while we finished serving the meal.

Notice Lizzie has her own stool and joined us at the table.
(This assures that she won’t be in the kitchen,
tempted to check out what’s on the counter)

Amy and her Grandma enjoyed chatting
while we cleaned up the dishes.

Naturally, we saved room for Twist Cone…
Great Grandma’s treat.
And Strawberry Butter Italian Ice was the flavor of the week.

These two opted for a Chocolate Shake.

The annual Four Generation Photo
was the perfect ending to our day with family.

We are Blessed.

Take care,
~Natalie
