Things in Our Street Thursday ~The Little Things that Make Us Smile ~We’re Getting a New Apron

Several years ago, it was our neighborhood’s turn
to get new curb, gutter,  and approach to the driveways.

On our street, every home was re-done, except for three.
Yes, one of those was our address.
You can see our driveway’s broken edge on the left…
Yes, it was a bumpy ride into our driveway.

Of course, Hubby called the city officials, he questioned,
he complained, he requested reconsideration.

Every year the entrance got worse, and every year he called.
Finally, we are getting a response…
spray paint markings in the driveway,
pylons in our street, and then the equipment
showed up to break up the old apron.

There was a lot of noise in the process.

A huge truck arrived to take away the huge chunks of cement.

And then, it was lunchtime and all was quiet.
Since everyone was gone I went outside to “check” their work.
Well, not everyone was gone. There was a young man eating his lunch
in the cab of his machine.

He hopped down to chat with me.
He usually packs his lunch in a cooler as he saves a lot of money
by not going out every day. Turns out, his wife was
a student in my classes a few years ago.
He’s a smart man.

In the late afternoon, it was quiet again.
All the big equipment was gone…

…but it appeared someone was coming back.

Another crew arrived with the cement.
This attracted several spectators,
as school was dismissed for the day.

Spectators that were young,
and young at heart.

They worked diligently to make good progress…

…because this was the forecast for the following day.
This is what it looked like when I took the trash out in the morning.
It rained most of the day.

Late in the afternoon, the sun came out,
so hubby got his leaf blower out to clear the driveway.

But, it looks like it will be a while that our vehicles
will be parked out in the street.

And a while before they will see the inside of our garage.
We are not complaining.

This is the best thing that has happened in our driveway
since our family was here playing Cornhole.

Take care,
~Natalie

Things in Our House Thursday ~The Little Things that Make Me Smile ~Pumpkins, Mums, and All The Faces of Fall

As promised, I’m back to show you the Autumn Decor
that we purchased when Hubby and I were out and about
on our Weekend Day Date.

The Mums are just now starting to open
and reveal their beautiful colors…

…rich, warm colors of Autumn.

I have heard reports that there will be a shortage
of all things Halloween,
so get your pumpkins and costumes early.

Our next door neighbors are all set with mums and pumpkins.
Brittany is so creative with seasonal decor on their front porch.

That’s where these guys live.
Spooky, right?!

I brought our outdoor wreath out of storage
to complement the Cornstalk.

BOO

This Wicked Witch keeps watch over our Foyer.
Sometimes I find her down on the lower level…
Did she fly down on her own?
Or did she have some help from Lizzie??

The Centerpiece in the Living Room is a good place
to stash some of my Halloween Critters.

This Black Cat is now Sold Out of our Etsy Shop,
so you’ll have to watch for it again next year.

Are you keeping track of how many Fall Faces you have seen?

Some of these Critters used to hang out in my Classroom.
But now, they are enjoying the Retired Life.

These guys are Retired, too.

Some items were gifts from other Bloggers…

This is from the very Creative Brenda
at the Rusty Thimble.

Sweet little Pumpkin Pitcher

These pumpkins are the perfect Bowl Fillers
on our Dining Room table.

We all have been loving the mild temperatures this fall.
Two years ago, we were under a Winter Storm Warning.
Lizzie thinks this weather is way more favorable.

Because it has been so warm,
the trees on our street are just starting to turn.

I hope you’ve had a chance to go out and about
and find some Seasonal Decor to bring
some of these Welcoming Colors into your Home.

Take care,
~Natalie

Weekend Day Date ~Here’s how these Retired Empty Nesters Go Out and About

It was a beautiful day to take on our Errand List…
and it was quite a lengthy list!

First stop was the Sanford Flu Shot Drive Through.
The first station took our names and
double checked our insurance information.
The line was short, and a nurse
on each side of our vehicle administered our vaccines.

Next priority was to take
Hubby’s big pickup through the car wash.

I wanted to look at the frames here.
Hubby checked out the beads for his Wine Bottle Necklaces.
You know, Winterfest is just around the corner.

Next Stop…Menards Garden Center…
my main mission was to find pumpkins and mums
for our porch and the for the front of the house.

I had received this photo from a friend,
which provided plenty of inspiration to decorate for autumn.

Menards did not disappoint in the
pumpkin department.

Their mums were pretty, too.

Best of all, we got our Corn Stalk here.

We also stopped at the mall, as I wanted to check out
what Kathy has at her Shoe Store.

I did find a pair of Sandals on her Clearance Rack
that I will appreciate next summer.

Seriously, Kohls? It too soon for this.
I wanted to check out their comforters.
Needless to say, we didn’t purchase anything there.

Hubby had two items on his Target list.
I can always find something to look at there.
They are currently working on an expansion and remodel of their store,
so it was interesting to check out the new area.

By this time, we were ready to take a break for lunch.
We enjoyed an adult beverage and shared an appetizer.

Our last stop on the way home was here…
where we found some healthy looking mums.

Home again, Home again, Jiggity Jig.
I’ll need to take some photos to show off the mums
when they are in full bloom.
Stay tuned!

Take care,
~Natalie
