Back to School

Best wishes to Amy and fellow classmates in the Physician Assistant Studies Program. Today was the first day of classes.
Good Luck, everyone.

Happy Birthday, Hubby & Tuesday's Tip

Scott's birthday was Sunday...we managed to celebrate for two whole days! Our family gathered for Brunch after church. Here is the Birthday Boy with the Pancake Chef.

For Tuesday's Tip of the Day: See the plate of pancakes under the electric frying pan...this is how we keep the first batch warm while preparing more pancakes...

In the evening we were invited out to join friends at their lake home for a Mexican Feast...Authentic Mexican...They continued to bring out course, after course...

Here are the Young People at the party.

And here are the Not-So-Young People at the Party.

There were six guests that had celebrated their birthday just this week.

The lake was beautiful and the water level is high.

How do you capture the fabulous sunset? Here, you see that the Young People have moved to the lower deck area to enjoy the view...

Last evening we entertained friends in our home...the Pancake Chef, now Tex-Mex Chef, and I were too busy to take photos at the Party. But here is the evidence. It appears every glass in my kitchen is dirty...

You Know You're a Grown-Up When...

...You have your own Utility Bills. Emily finished her summer classes on the 6th and has been home with us since. However, she knew there'd be some bills in her mailbox, one with a payment due on the 17th. So...we made a quick overnight to her apartment...her first priority, go on-line to check out the payment options.

We had hoped Line would be with us to make this a 'girls weekend away', but she had the soccer team camp-out...and it sounds like she had a lot of fun there with her teammates.

and...Some of you might remember that for my birthday, Emily gave me a gift certificate for a pedicure. This was only my 3rd time in my 53 years...and it is such a treat. At least my feet look ready for the first day of school. And don't Emily's toes look cute? Oh, to be 20 again!!

Things in my House Thursday

Emily has pet fish...and since she is home, the fish are here. Callie is the most welcoming kitty...but this is not always a good thing in this case.

Things in my Classroom...

Since the girls were young, they have helped me prepare my classroom for the coming school year. Today, Emily curled the tape for all of my posters. I feel so much better when my classroom is ready for students.

And Amy...
She is in Vegas as one of her best friends is getting married there today. Best wishes to the bride, Shannon!
And Line...
Soccer try-outs concluded this week and she made the team. Now...she is a busy girl. They are having two-a day practices...one at 6 a.m. and one at 5 p.m...the professional team photo...an inter-squad scrimmage...a team pizza party...and a team-bonding over-night camp-out...all just this weekend...

A Day at the Zoo

I just love visiting our adult children in their homes and in their communities. Our Sunday excursion was a trip into Omaha to visit the zoo. I believe their zoo is one of the largest in the country...second to the San Diego Zoo. Amy and Seth were wonderful host and hostess for our long weekend.

Do you see how this lizard has his arm around his mate?

And isn't Emily brave??

It was not as hot as the day before...instead of 102 degrees...it was only in the 80s.

Where to next?
We were there over six hours and saw all but one of the large complexes.

Waiting for the train...

Even tho' Line does not like heights, she was brave and we rode the SkyTram from one side of the zoo to the other...I didn't take a picture because they were several seats ahead of us (and I was clutching my bag and jacket tightly too)!
We all rode the train back to the other side...and it was pouring cats and dogs...or was that elephants and zebras?

The penguins were perhaps everyone's favorite...the glass wall allowed us to watch them swimming under water, and on top of the rocks. It was too dark and crowded to take a picture in that area.

I don't know about everyone else...but I had a fabulous time. If any of you are traveling through Nebraska, I recommend allowing an extra day to spend at the Henry Doorly Zoo...it is well worth it!

Recreational Shopping

It is safe to say that our family loves to shop...so a part of our trip to Nebraska was checking out the Mall. Our daughters have a good eye for Fashion and for a good buy. They can search the clearance racks quite efficiently and they always find some great looking clothes for even a better price.

We each made a couple of purchases to add a little spark to our wardrobe for the new school year.

Line was in the market for some new electronics. She knew what she wanted and it didn't take long to make her final decision.

Just a quick call home to double check...

Emily was a great shopping assistant, as Line purchased the same computer that she has.

More paper work to complete...

This Back-to-School Shopping is exhausting...

Since we’ve been Home ~Countdown to the Handmade Market = Three Days ~Saturday, October 17th, 10 to 4, at The DEC

We traveled to the Cape and back again. Hubby and I have been home for a week and have spent much of our time in our Creative Spaces… Hubby ...
