It is nice to be out of school for the summer and have a more flexible schedule. I am taking two summer classes, but there is still plenty of time to enjoy our outdoor living space.

The Two Ton Table
Well, not exactly two tons...but it does weigh 200 pounds. Last summer this table was the victim of terrible wind storms. In one storm it blew from the top level of the deck to the ground, smashing into our daughter's bedroom window. About a week later, it blew from the top level to the lower level of the deck and the glass tabletop shattered into millions of pieces. Well, we pondered what to do, as the frame and swivel chairs were still intact. It was decided that concrete would look good...and it took four 50 pound bags of cement to fill the frame that my husband built. If the wind takes this table, it's probably taking the deck with it!

I know about windstorms living in Florida with the hurricane season upon us. Good idea for a cement tabletop.
I LIKE the cement top, probably better than glass. Think of all the hot dishes you can set on it. Uh oh, I have a glass topped table!
It does look good...and sturdy! Good choice...if it goes you may not be in Florida anymore!
7 more days to go here!
I love the table top. Hopefully no wind strong enough to move it!!
What classes are you taking this summer?
Woo Hoo! SUMMER TIME!!! Enjoy your time off! Wish I could convince you to come learn to quilt!
our table looks great and I don't think it's going any where now! All your potted flowers look beautiful too!

Looks great! Clever idea using concrete. Your deck is lovely!
LOVE the table! We're lucky we don't get 'extreme' weather like that.... and ENJOY the summer, it's nice to get out of routine for a while! :0)
Beautiful outdoor space and good solution for that table - it is not going anywhere:)
Natalie,
Very lovely deck. Did your husband polish the cement...it suppose to be very pretty when it's polished.

We get nasty wind here in Nebraska, so got to think of those outdoor items sometimes. The cement top looks perfect!
Wow! That sounds like Oklahoma wind! Whew!
Scary stuff. Glad you made it good and heavy. Now it'll only fall THROUGH the deck. LOL
Enjoy your summer!!!
Summertime and staying at home...living the dream! Well my dream at least. I love your table and love the deck!

I love the concrete table top. It's becoming a popular material for counter tops too.
Your outdoor living area is beautiful.
The photos give me deck envy.
:-)
big hugs,
Hope
