I'm sorry, My Mistake ~ An Update

Dear Ann Bue,
This apology is in response to your comment on my blog post yesterday.  I could not find another way to reach you, as yours was a 'no-reply comment'...so I hope you see this.

We have a foreign exchange student from Norway living with us.  Last fall when she told me it was her mom's birthday, I thought it would be fun to do a birthday post in her honor.   So I went to my igoogle to see how someone would celebrate there.

Yours was the best site for me to find information about the culture of our new daughter...
http://www.norway-hei.com/index.html    I learned this morning that this site belongs to you, Ann.  I found it helpful to see the things that Line was missing from her home.

I am sorry that I might have led anyone to believe that I made the cake.  Mari-Ann is in Norway, and Line and I are here in South Dakota...so I just wanted to send her a picture of a Norwegian Birthday cake...
I had hoped that by linking back to your site to get the recipe, that would have been enough.

When I look at my post, it does not look like your name has been cropped...I do see "A Bue" on the lower right hand corner of the picture.  http://tinsandtreasures.blogspot.com/2009/09/norwegian-blotkake.html

Again, please accept my apology.  I am very sorry that I used these pictures and your link without asking you.  Sincerely, ~Natalie

Update
I found the link to contact Anne through her web page and wrote an apology there, as well.
She was very quick to respond with her apology to me...
Anne had not noticed the link back to her site and recipe, at first,
so she is sorry for her angry note.

This was an unfortunate misunderstanding, and it could have been avoided by my simply including her name in my blog post last September.  Remember, I teach high school...Plagiarism is not allowed.
Students are to use proper documentation whenever using someone else's information...
even when you find it on google.

Wow.
Great apology Natalie!

I don't think any of your readers thought you were trying to deceive, that is not how you are.

The photo of the cake was pretty, but not anything to get crazy about.

I saw the comment that this Anne woman left you and she clearly blew things out of proportion. From reading your original blog post about the cake I think you made it clear that you did NOT make the cake. You didn't alter the photos and you very courteously linked back to her website so that others could visit her site. It was nice of you to apologize to this woman...I don't know that I would have done the same because she was being incredibly rude and unreasonable!!

Yikes Natalie. When I read that post, I did not think you made it and I thought you did enough by adding the link.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. It was a great post. :)

Good point Natalie...sometimes with such easy access to material with the internet...we forget. Thanks for the reminder.

omg.
i don't think anyone thought you were taking credit for the cake. it clearly states that you got it from google and you linked to it very clearly.
that being said, you handled this beautifully. it shows alot of character that you handled it the way you did. good job! ;)
