All Roads Leading Home ~ Under Construction

You've all heard about the flooding issues in the Devils Lake region.
We traveled there to visit mom a few days ago...
...and every route is under construction, Hwy 57, Hwy 19 and Hwy 2...

Hubby was driving the pick up...so he chose Hwy 57...

This is what it was like on a windy day in June.

So, it appears they need to build up the road.
For 18 miles, this is what we experienced...
the equipment looks small until you are right next to it.
(notice my magnetic pin catcher on the dash? I was able to hand sew until here...
then I was too busy gripping the door handle)
Flag men + waiting for the pilot car = several delays.
The waves splash up onto the road, making the mud slippery.

And, here's what happens after dark.
The flagman said they work around the clock...

I hope they come up with a solution...soon.
The residents in this region, need relief from all of the problems related to the rising waters of Devils Lake.

Take care,
~Natalie

What a trip you had. I really feel for the folks that live in that area. Even working around the clock I would think it would be months and months before the roadways are back to normal.

You left a comment on my blog awhile back saying, "Did you know that your setting is on 'noreply commenter'?" I looked and looked through all my settings but didn't see where to change it. Could you point me in the right direction of where to look so I can fix it? Thanks bunches!

Thanks for the update Natalie-at least there is some progress. Did the house survive? I may have missed your last update...bless the folks who have to live with this! ~*~Lisa

What a disaster area! I am really surprised that road was open at all...but I guess people HAVE to get from one point to another.
We don't see any of this on the news anymore Natalie...it's as if all is well now.
I hope your Mom is doing well.
Have a nice weekend.

I was wondering about the house also. Slippery mud must be horrible to drive on. No wonder why you were gripping the door handle!
