Road Trip to Visit Family and Friends ~Saying Goodbye to Baby JoJo ~Our Travel North to See the Grandsons ~Travel Day One ~Where is Cat Boy Meow?

The week with this family in Georgia seemed to fly by.
We enjoyed every moment spent with Daughter, Son-in-Law,
and new Granddaughter, Joelle.

Any road trip starts at the Golden Arches, as Papa needs a Diet Coke.
McDonalds has the best formula, you know.

This was a fun place to stop for gas and to stretch our legs.

Shelves and shelves are lined with Georgia products.

Family owned, they have passed down their recipes
and make fresh sausage every morning.

Naturally, there were Georgia Peaches,
fresh and preserved.

If you liked our earlier stop, you’ll love this stop, as
this was the most impressive of all convenience stores.
Harry Smith had done a feature story on Buc-ee’s
on the Today Show, a while back.

Unique to the Southeast,
Buc-ee’s is famous for their Beaver Mascot…

Their Baked Goods…

Their Brisket, sliced or chopped…

And their Beef Jerkey.

The place is huge.
There’s clothing and a gift shop.
There’s many Snack Foods, salty and sweet.
(Plenty of clean bathrooms)

If you see their sign,
be sure to stop in and see for yourself.

There was so much to see,
so we set a time limit to our browsing, as we had places to go.

We took a late lunch break at the State Line Bar & Grill.

It was a cool, old building…in  Bristol, Tennessee.
We parked across the street in Virginia.

See the center yellow line on Main Street?
The server told us that tourists can stand in the crosswalk,
in the middle of the street to take a photo,
and the locals will stop.

So, here I am with one foot in Tennessee
and the other foot in Virginia!

Back in the vehicle, we drove as far as Harrisonburg.
Anyone who knows anything about Bison Football,
knows that Harrisonburg is home to James Madison University.
One of the biggest rivalries over the years.

Papa asked, “do you think I dare wear my Bison Polo Shirt?”
I said, “maybe you should be more concerned about your pickup
that has Bison Decals in the back window”

Our Hotel was just across the street from campus.

Catboy couldn’t resist getting a photo with Duke,
their Bulldog Mascot.

After sharing an appetizer, we walked back to our hotel for some rest,
as there’s one more travel day before reaching our destination.

Stay tuned for more adventures with Cat Boy.

Take Care,
~Natalie
