Hardy Folks in this Neck of the Woods and Things in my House Thursday XII

Sooo...how cold was it? Actual temperature dropped to 42 below. That was a new record for us. The wind chill, 55 below. I stayed in bed for awhile, thinking, maybe we'd have a 'late start', but nope, not us!! I made my usual morning grocery store stop for lab supplies...and all the regulars were there...the men in the morning coffee group, the semi-retired guys that stock the shelves, and the women at the cash registers...all, like nothing was out of the ordinary!
For Things in my House Thursday? Well, today, I'm in my house...and I'm showing you what's just outside my house. This is my car in the driveway. These are our mailboxes...our mailman must have long arms, as I need to kneel on this snowbank to just reach the mailbox.

This is how tall the snowpile is at the end of our driveway.

And out on our deck...our patio table has a hole in the center for an umbrella. So the snow fall also has left a hole in the center!

Brrrrrrrr.........the cold air is coming here next! Thankfully we won't have snow.

Got a chuckle out of how you were to retrieve the mail!

They didn't cancel school!!! You are made of sterner stuff than us Iowans. They canceled public school today and tomorrow just because of the cold. Since I homeschool, we still had school, though my boys would have loved a "snow day." I'm mean that way. *wink*

And I thought it was cold here!

Man, kids here would be so mad if we got that kind of snow and schools weren't canceled.

Y'all are real troopers!

Oh, BTW, off topic - that bottle necklace I bought from you a several weeks ago was given today to my neighbor on her 50th birthday.

She LOVED it!

She said she'd seen something like it in some neat wine store somewhere up north when she was traveling; she really liked it and wanted one (but she's not the type to buy anything fun for herself.

She thought that somehow I knew about it - that she'd told me, but she hadn't.

Anyway, your handiwork was appreciated and I loved having the 'perfect' gift. Thanks!

Holy COW! You guys must come from sturdy stock in Aberdeen! I whimper and hibernate at positive single digit numbers. Honestly, that can't be healthy. I'll pray for you -- really hard!

Thank you for sharing the snow pictures with us. I live in NC and I dont get nearly enough around here. I have seen maybe 10 flakes this year tops...and am hoping for more (though perhaps not as much as you have-I guess there is such a thing as too much of a good thing, huh?)

just another normal day in SD. We ARE a hardy lot aren't we? Yesterday we drove past my dad's, and he was out shoveling---he's 88 yo and has lots of physical disabilities, but still goes out and shovels! Even runs his snowblower by himself.
