Stitching and Stewing on Sunday

The temperature here was the lowest in the nation...It was a perfect weekend to stay inside...

I had purchased some new fabric in Jamestown when we took my mom home...
...Aren't these just the sweetest Valentine prints?!
I used heat and bond to iron the prints to heavy brown paper.  I found some dainty vintage lace in with my sewing supplies.  I think it is perfect.

The cold weekend weather also called for
Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup
Clean 4 chicken pieces (I use those handy individually frozen breast pieces)
Place chicken in Dutch Oven with 6 cups of water.
Cover the pan and bring to a boil. Turn heat down so it can simmer.
Add:
1 carrot, cleaned and cut into small slices
1 stalk celery with leaves, washed and cut into bite size pieces
1/2 of an onion, chopped
2 sprigs parsley
5 peppercorns
1/2 tsp. salt
1 small bay leaf
Simmer until meat is cooked through and tender.
(Throw the peppercorns and bayleaf away.)
Cut or shred the chicken into bite size pieces.

Add noodles and cook until al dente.

I plan to finish my handmade Valentine Tags with a ribbon loop.  Watch for them in my Etsy shop soon!

Still cold here (not by YOUR standards, of course!) Might have to try this soup recipe. Hubby LOVES soup so this would be a welcome menu choice for him.

Those are precious tags! Cold weather demands soups and stews. I'm saving your recipe for the next blast of cold weather. (I made vegetable beef soup this week!)
