Things in my House Thursday

Do you recall the box we received from Norway?  It was filled with Christmas gifts for Line from her family.  It also contained some delightful surprises for us.  Don't you just love the Norwegian Nisse?!  He is rich with tradition.  He will bring us good fortune.  He is here in our home to protect and care for us.

Hmmm...rich delicious coffee...and tea...

And for my cookbook collection...this Norwegian Cooking book.  Some day I will show your the wonderful pictures and recipes inside.
Everyone in our family received a pair of hand-knit Norwegian Selbu mittens.  Wooly and warm for our South Dakota winter.
And we are definately going to need them this weekend...
...the forecast is for more snow and cold.

Thanks for sharing, Natalie! My mother has a pair of these mittens that are cobalt blue & white and very old. Seeing yours brought back memories! I was recently looking for a "gnome" pattern and the "nisse" made me chuckle as I have been envisioning these little beings in my head! ~Lisa

I have a wooden nisse sitting on the window sill in my office! (I am part Norwegian.) I love those mittens!

What terrific gifts! I love the Nisse. Of course, I do believe in fairies, so he would fit right in here.
