Roses...Just Because...

From Hubby...a sweet surprise.  He brought a dozen roses yesterday.  They are perfect

While we are home, Mom is at the Altru in Grand Forks.  It is difficult to know what to do...where to be...

If I am there, I sit in the corner of her room and watch her sleep.  When I am home, I have to rely on the communication from the hospital by phone.  I recieve calls from the nurses, the doctor, and the social workers.

Some reports are positive...some negative.  At times she is up, having some yogurt and working on a crossword puzzle.  One nurse suggested she might be bored...

I wish I could have her correct some of the papers that my students did when I was gone from school for a week!

Some of the nurses report that she is confused...like she is somewhere else and trying to get back to the hospital.  Her doctor is not concerned.  He says it is typical for someone who has been in the hospital as long as she has.

Ken was there to visit today. She knew who he was and they had some good conversation...

The social worker called to discuss 'discharge plans'.

Sometimes I don't think they are talking to each other there...the nurses, the doctors, the physical therapists, the occupational therapists, and the social workers...
why are the reports so conflicting?
I am planning to pack my bags and head north after classes on Friday.

Guess who else loves my flowers...

Natalie,
The flowers are perfect. It was great of your hubby to know just what to do to show his love and support.

I can imagine how you're feeling when you get conflicting reports about your mother's care. Hopefully they will all get on the same page! Prayers and hugs for you and her!

Beautiful flowers. It is so difficult....does she have a case manager? That usually helps a bit. Have a safe trip Friday.

It's life consuming when you are going through something like this, isn't it? I feel for you and your family. I hope that your mother continues to recover well. Know that we are sending good thoughts your way and that your family is in our prayers.

Your husband is a gem.
I understand the confusion at the hospital with your Mom and with the staff.
I do hope she gets home soon. Your family is in my prayers.

Beautiful roses and how thoughtful. I know what you mean about the conflicting reports, when you are there you can confront them, hard to do on the phone. Hard to know where to be! How frustrating!

Wonderful flowers, and yes it is hard to know where and when you should be there for your mom. Do talk to the staff about getting on one page. This will help you get the correct treatment for you mom. Pray still being sent to you and your family, during this time.

Hi Natalie

Hope your mom keeps improving. When my mom was sick, it was obvious that no one ever talked to each other - the hospital would never ask the nursing home exactly why she was admitted. Very annoying.

How sweet and thoughtful of your husband to bring you the roses.

I haven't been online much, so I'll have to read some of your earlier posts and catch up on your mom's condition. I hope she is doing well and that you're managing okay. Take care, my friend. Have a safe trip.

Your roses are gorgeous!! What a sweet, sweet man!

Sorry you are having to deal with this. I've not gone through it myself, but I know it can be very wearisome! I will be praying for strength and comfort for you, peace for your mom and wisdom for those that are caring for her.
