Things in my House that Make me Happy

I am so proud to have my grandmothers' sewing machines.
This sewing machine belonged to my mom's mom.
Her name was Hilda and her picture is at the bottom of this page.
I use her antique machine as a base for my own sewing machine and serger.
All the attachments are here...
Perhaps I was chosen to own these
because I went to school to major in Textiles and Clothing and Clothing Construction.

But what really makes me smile, is this note...
in the drawer...
in my grandmother's handwriting...

"Let no one ruin this machine"

Just what do you think motivated her to write this message?

Take care,
~Natalie

I love antique sewing machines! Not only were they useful but in their own way beautifully decorated with wonderful detailing. Cherish your treasure.

The machine is lovely but the message it holds is priceless!

I know just how you feel, I also have my grandmother's sewing machine. It's a 1944 Singer and it still runs like a champ. I love the note you found on yours!

How great to have a machine that's been passed down like that! I love mine but I got it at a yard sale, it would have more meaning if I got it from a relative. Her note is too cute....it's kind of like the notes I write all over my fabric scissors. LOL!

That is so awesome. I have a recipe for shrimp dip that my mom wrote and looking at her handwriting can bring me to tears. The sewing machine must have meant a lot to her.

Great story about the machine! I have a machine my mom gave me, but nothing "special" about it like yours.

Thanks for featuring my stitchery, too!
