Whatcha Workin' On Wednesday?

If you recall...a few weeks ago,
I won a give-away from Brenda at the Rusty Thimble.
When I opened my box I was greeted by this adorable pumpkin face.
At the time, her shop was set to vacation mode, however...
...she's back...and has listed more Pumpkin Pokes in her
The OFG Halloween Celebration on Etsy continues.
I sold a little pumpkin from my shop, and am taking photos to relist tomorrow.
School work is never-ending.
Here is my view of students in the foods lab.
They don't look very busy, do they?
Well, their biscuits are in the oven, and they are waiting to eat!
Just moments before...oops...
I must have said 15 times, "use a fork, not your pastry blender when you mix in the milk".
Basic Biscuits
2 cups all purpose flour
1 tbsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/3 cup shortening
3/4 cup milk
1 tbsp. butter
Heat oven to 425 degrees. Combine flour, baking powder, and salt together in a mixing bowl. Cut the shortening into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Blend in milk to make a soft dough. Place dough onto lightly floured surface and knead gently about 20 times.  Roll out to a 1/2 inch thickness. Cut out with a floured biscuit cutter. Place biscuits on an ungreased baking sheet. Brush with melted butter. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until lightly browned.
These are so yummy with Strawberry Jam.

And what was going on next door, while we were making biscuits?
The Family Living class was learning how to calm a crying baby.
Happy Babies = Happy Mommies.

Take care,
~Natalie

Cute pumpkins! Those babies sure bring back memories, and both my girls are good moms, so maybe they worked. I remember even getting "gramma" babysitting time with THOSE babies!

Thank you Natalie for posting about your pumpkin poke and my shop. Oh I would love to be in the middle of your class. I know it is no longer called home ec but I remember volunteering in my sons class on sewing. I think that should of been my calling in life *to teach what I love best* you are a great teacher I am sure.

My how times have changed. Back when my daughter was in high school she had to take care of an egg. Then I think the schools changed to 5 pound bags of flour.
