Baking Bread ~ a Science and an Art ... plus Tuesday's Tip of the Day

It is Yeast Bread Week in my Basic Foods class.
We will make Dinner Rolls, Cinnamon Rolls and Homemade Pizza.
We study the functions of the ingredients
 and gluten formation...the Science part!

Students are encouraged to exercise their creativity when shaping their dinner rolls...the artistic part.

Tuesday's Tip of the Day
When shaping Crescent Rolls,
Stretch and shape the roll...
and be sure to pinch the tip of the triangle to the side of the roll and place tip side down on your greased baking sheet.
Otherwise, the roll will un-curl...
the tips may be over-browned.
While, they will still taste ok...they will look goofy.

Have fun!

I have posted my recipes over on the Old Farmhouse Gathering Cooking Blog.
Lucy has set up a 'print friendly' option for all of you.

Take care,
~Natalie

These posts always remind me of my favorite classes in high school. We called it "home-ec" back in the day! It's teachers like you that inspired me to major in home-ec education in college! I can tell your students enjoy your class!
