Visiting Boston ~Spending Time with Family ~How We Spent Our Last Day In Boston

After a long and stuffy Uber ride home from Fenway, 

we enjoyed a cold beverage and fresh air 

up on the Apartment’s Roof Deck. 

Emily and Jake prepared a lovely Birthday Dinner of 

Garlic Herb Chicken Breasts

Crash Potatoes

Roasted Brussels Sprouts

And then it was Monday Morning...

Both Emily and Jake needed to work.

Hubby and I needed time to organize and pack our suitcase.

After lunch, Jake dropped us off 

at the nearby Derby Street Shoppes.

My favorite store was Crate and Barrel.

Just check out those wide, wheelchair accommodating walkways!

I also love their tablescape displays.

Cheerful summer dinnerware for the patio.

There’s something that appeals to everyone’s tastes here.

Another favorite store was the Anthropology.

This display looks like summer, too.

Can you tell I have a “thing” for pretty dishes?!

We didn’t buy anything,

but we sure had fun browsing!

And Hubby has a “thing” for fried seafood.

We had dinner here.

We had a great table on the patio...

...right across the street from the beach.

After our fill of clams, scallops, shrimp, and fish, 

we enjoyed a walk along the beach.

It was such a nice evening. 

We retired early, as our alarms were set for 3:45 a.m.

to catch our early flight home.

Thank you for such a fabulous week.

Visiting Boston ~Spending Time with Family ~Day Seven

While Hubby and I were on vacation, Emily and Jake were not.

They still had work obligations.

We dropped Emily off at her facility, 

as she had important meetings on her agenda.

Just down the street from Zone Wellness 

is the Zildjian Symbol Factory.

Remember that the three of us enjoyed 

a tour there a year and a half ago.

Hubby was not able to attend at that time.

So this year, it was his turn.

He thoroughly enjoyed that 90 minutes!

Jake and I viewed the displays in the lobby.

We felt right at home waiting in the employee break room. 

Jake took care of work emails and phone calls. 

I enjoyed coffee and the Zildjian television broadcast.

If you visit the Boston area, this tour is well worth your time.

Be sure to sign up early, as there is a waiting list.

With Emily still at work, I hung out with the guys.

First stop...lunch at McSwiggans, an Irish Pub.

They both ordered the McSwiggan’s Burger, 

featuring three types of meat.

My lunch was the Cod Fish Cake...

Cod, mashed potatoes, dill, butter, and fresh herbs, 

over a spring mix and remoulade sauce.

Since I was confined to a wheelchair, 

it’s not like they could drop me off at the Hobby Lobby! 

So I enjoyed man shopping with stops at Home Depot, 

the Wine and Liquor Store, and a Golf Pro shop.

Then we received the message that Emily was ready to leave. 

We enjoyed visiting her at her workplace, 

and hearing about their programs.

It was another great day.

We are blessed.

What’cha Workin’ on Wednesday ~Endless House Chores ~Treat Yourself Now and Then

Who else feels like the house chores are never ending?

They are a good reminder to be thankful for our homes, 

for good food, and for comfortable clothing.

No one wants to see photos of me washing dishes, 

folding laundry, or dusting & vacuuming.

So, please enjoy these photos of my fresh flowers.

I made a mad dash through the supermarket yesterday.

The Clearance Basket of fresh flowers caught my attention.

I’m guessing they were the leftovers 

from the most recent spring dance recital.

I like leftovers...

And for this price, 

they were a good investment.

Somehow, doing my house chores just became more pleasant.

What Hubby Did While I Was Away

While I spent the better part of May 

visiting our family in Okinawa, 

Hubby was taking care of things on the Homefront.

First and foremost, he went to work every morning.

Secondly, he took care of our cat...

providing her with food, water, and grooming.

But, more about the Homefront...

Perhaps his biggest project was our front yard.

He purchased a pickup load of landscaping rock...

And some new flowering bushes.

It was backbreaking work...

...but so worth it.

It looks great, honey.

Our little furry friend wore her new harness and leash 

to go out and supervise his work.

My mother’s washtubs are now 

filled with beautiful flowers.

So many days in May were chilly and rainy, 

so they spent their evenings watching Twins baseball 

and playing on the iPad.

But when it was nice, it was very very nice.

The warm sunshine feels so good after a long, hard winter.

Monday Miscellaneous ~Where the Week Went ~Looking for the Blog Worthy

 This is Us...Seven years ago.

The photo showed up in my Facebook Memories.

We look so much younger!

Where does the time go?!

Oh, and my Facebook Messenger 

was hacked this week.

Notice it looks like I am 

using a phone number in Nigeria.

Why don’t these computer wizards 

use their technology skills for something useful?

Have you all been watching “This Is Us”?

That season finale gave us viewers so much to think about.

Their writers are amazing!

The older we get, 

the more we like to prepare dinner at home 

with fresh ingredients and our favorite seasonings.

Now that we have had a tiny taste of spring, 

I am looking for new recipe ideas.

This looks like a tasty salad.

According to Fitbit, 

I have taken 3 million steps since the middle of June.

We went out to Minervas 

with our Friday Night Friends.

Hubby and I shared the Firecracker Shrimp.

I recommend it.

One of our friends gifted all of us girls

with a spring daffodil bud.

Thank you, Charlotte.

We used the last Corned Beef Brisket from our freezer.

I roasted it on Saturday...

Hubby made Corned Beef Hash on Sunday.

A spring storm is in our forecast.

Enough already.

Is there no end to House Chores?

I have been working at a temporary part-time job 

for the last couple of weeks.

After my last day, 

it will be time to resume my spring cleaning at home.

But first, we are going to have one more round of winter.
