She still lives alone. She was cleaning on Monday and was wondered how I clean my blinds...she said she usually climbs up into her kitchen sink to get the ones that hang there. I said, 'Hold on...I'll be there tomorrow...just wait for me'. So we have been cleaning like crazy women. No clothes line at her place so we hung her drapes from the tree in the front. Not sure what the neighbors thought...but we were loving the fresh breeze.
Here she is with her sisters. I'm guessing it must be the 80's...check out those shoulder pads and the size of their glasses. Her older sister, the serious sister, Enid died about 6 years ago and her younger sister, the fun loving sister, Fern died just this past spring. They always seemed to have the best time when they were together.
I have always wished that I had a sister...

My 79 yr old mother was doing similar stunts -- teetering on a wobbling dinette chair to adjust drapes, etc. I got her a step stool -- somewhat safer.
Awww, your mom is a sweetheart! It's too bad her sisters are gone now. I'm sure she misses them. I'm glad you helped her; my mom is 80 and I worry about her doing things she shouldn't. I feel better if I can help!

So great that you are close to your mom. She reminds me of my mom in that she was always busy around the house and garden.
Your Mom looks great and how wonderful that she can still live in her own home!

Your Mom is wonderful and I also wish I had a sister. I love the blinds in the front yard...now all she needs is some old furniture and a used tire. :)
Your mom is a wonder. I she and my mom would get along well!
I completely agree with you!!
My grandmother will be 90 in August! She is still doing the charleston, and loves to waltz with her NEW HUSBAND!!! Yes, NEW. She recently married her 4th husband this past May. She has outlived all her other husbands. This time she went for a younger man, he is 81! ha!
Your Mother is precious! I bet her and my grandmother could paint the town red!!
God Bless~Kelly Maria
I love it that our precious older family members can be independent in their own homes, with a little help from caring children. What a dear daughter you are. I'm sure your mama counts you as one of her dearest blessings.
Natalie,
How lovely that your mom is still going strong in her 80's. My mom is 72 and still is going strong. Good love them! Hope we get to their age in good shape!

As my teenage grandchildren would say, "sisters are the bomb." I adore my sister and would live next door to her if I only could. Your mom is precious - sure makes me miss my mother. blessings, marlene
When my sister lived close we had "sister's day" every Thursday. We would have lunch, then either quilt or visit quilt shops. She lives three states away now and I really miss her. You are so lucky to still have your mom and it is quite obvious that you appreciate that.
Your mom looks fabulous for 80!! I bet those drapes smell heavenly!!
I want to still be cleaning my blinds at 88!
Oh, wait, I don't clean my blinds now, but maybe I'll start, so I can still be doing it at 88.
I love hearing about your energetic mom. I've known women like that and there are those in their 60s who seem so "elderly". I hope to be like your mom when I'm that age!
The curtains cracked me up.
