A Day at the Zoo

I just love visiting our adult children in their homes and in their communities. Our Sunday excursion was a trip into Omaha to visit the zoo. I believe their zoo is one of the largest in the country...second to the San Diego Zoo. Amy and Seth were wonderful host and hostess for our long weekend.

Do you see how this lizard has his arm around his mate?

And isn't Emily brave??

It was not as hot as the day before...instead of 102 degrees...it was only in the 80s.

Where to next?
We were there over six hours and saw all but one of the large complexes.

Waiting for the train...

Even tho' Line does not like heights, she was brave and we rode the SkyTram from one side of the zoo to the other...I didn't take a picture because they were several seats ahead of us (and I was clutching my bag and jacket tightly too)!
We all rode the train back to the other side...and it was pouring cats and dogs...or was that elephants and zebras?

The penguins were perhaps everyone's favorite...the glass wall allowed us to watch them swimming under water, and on top of the rocks. It was too dark and crowded to take a picture in that area.

I don't know about everyone else...but I had a fabulous time. If any of you are traveling through Nebraska, I recommend allowing an extra day to spend at the Henry Doorly Zoo...it is well worth it!

Looks like a fun day and a wonderful zoo! We had my granddaughters at the zoo a few weeks ago and the penguins were her favorite! They are really popular here because of the TEAM by the same name...the STanley Cup winning team!

I agree Natalie, the zoo in Omaha is great. I haven't been there in a couple of years (I only live about 30 miles away!!) so haven't been in the newest exhibit. But looking forward to when I can go again! Thanks for sharing all the pictures and it looks like Line is fitting right in with your family!
