Things in my Mailbox

We conduct Parent/Teachers conferences once every term, about midterm time...so yesterday was our fourth and final of the school year. That means yesterday was my 14 hour workday (not complaining, just explaining) as I went to the store at 7:15 a.m. to get supplies for lab, and returned home at 9:15 p.m. after the evening conferences. I did manage to get home from 4-4:40 in the afternoon to eat a quick bite, brush my teeth and dab on some perfume.

Anyway, this story is going somewhere...about once every five years, a teacher gets a note from a former student...and let me tell you...it really makes my day. I have kept each and every one of my precious notes in an envelope. This one was in my school mailbox yesterday, and somehow...my fourteen hour workday just flew by.

Ah, doesn't that just melt your heart? You must be a wonderful teacher to elicit those kinds of remarks. I would predict good things in store for that young woman as well!

Ahhh. One note can make it all worthwhile, can't it? Very special.

Oh, I do hope you're going! Brings tears to my eyes. As elementary we don't get as many, but occasionally I will get a real tear-jerker from a parent. Yay. How fun!

I know you don't do it for the validation, but I'm sure it certainly makes it all seem worthwhile when it comes around. That's really neat, Natalie. I appreciate your sharing it with us.

Isn't it amazing what a simple act of kindness in the way of a note and from a kid will do? Girls are ever so thoughtful!! You obviously made a lasting impression that will be with her for many years to come. Well done!
