A Blog Birthday = A Blog Give Away

Today my blog is celebrating her birthday.
She is two years old.

Here is part of my first post on June 14, 2008.
Flag Day
Good Morning! Today would be my grandmother's birthday. She would have been 115 years old if she was here. Her mind was sharp until the day she died. I would love to spend a day visiting with her about her growing up, teaching in a one room school house and raising a family of 9 children. I wonder how the women of her generation had time to take care of their children, the house, the garden; to prepare all of their meals at home, from scratch; to bake delicious cookies and pies; and still have the energy to crochet bedspreads and create beautiful quilts. These women were amazing!

So, it is fitting that I venture into this world of technology with my own blogspot, on my grandma's birthday. This concept would have been so far beyond her wildest imagination.
This is the picture that many of you have seen at the bottom of my home page.
That is my grandma, Hilda with her two sisters, Emma and Hazel.

Anyway...several weeks went by before someone left me a comment.
I'm pretty sure I was the only one reading my blog!

So...this is Birthday Month...
...my Grandma's, mine and my blog's.
To celebrate I will prepare a box of birthday goodies to send to one of you.

Simply, leave a comment on this post.
If you share this link on your blog, leave a 2nd comment for another chance.
Comments will close at midnight on June 22nd.
I will draw a name and notify the winner on my birthday, the 23rd.

Take Care ~Natalie

Don't you wonder how much effort it took to get the girls ready for the photo and then make sure that they didn't act goofy (I'm thinking of the mother of boys here, ha!) when the photo was taken?
Happy Anniversary and birthday!

Love the photograph of the sisters. I have one of my Grandmother Lil and her sister Edna. In that photo, my Grandmother is wearing a necklace that she gave to me and I gave to my daughter Holly to wear on her wedding day. Congratulations on 2 years of blogging!

I guess your blog was a few months old when I found it...not sure, but I beleive I found a link from another crafty blogger.

My blog was two years and two months when I had to stop blogging...due to unforseen, ugly circumstances. Glad yours is still up and running :) HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU, YOUR BLOG AND GRANDMA!

Have a very happy birthday to you and your wonderfully written blog! )Those little glass cupcakes are just the cutest home decor.! I've never seen anything like them!)

What a great/clear picture of your grandmother and her sisters! I'm sure she will be very touched that you have included her on your blog. Women during her time could effortlessly multitask and do a great job at everything! It tired me out just reading the list of what all she could accomplish in one day!

Wouldn't it be great to talk to them? And the pictures--did they have to hold still a long time? And all those pleats and ruffles on their dresses. How long did it take to prepare for the photo?? And was it winter or summer?? Oh, lots of things we could ask them!

Hello Natalie:

Congratulations on your blog birthday! Your site is a joy...restful, inspiring and a real treat for the eyes. And thank you for stopping by my blog...it is lovely to meet you! I will come back and visit often. As a new blogger, I have lots to learn...and cozy spots like yours have much to teach me about seeing the love and beauty that surround us in spite of occasional hardships. I especially love your photos of your home and pets, and of course those lovely daughters. Family is, indeed,
everything.
