This daughter and her husband arrived a day ahead
of her sister. Just in time to take in the last day of our County Fair.
Emily was really craving some Fair Food,
and she wanted to see the Bunnies and Goats.
The Guys ordered Chicken on a Stick.
My Hubby’s was on a bed of Lo Mein.
Her Hubby’s was on a bed of Hot Cheeto Mac and Cheese!
Emily decided on a Corn Dog.
This one is a Dilly Dog…that’s right.
It’s a Hot Dog inside a Huge Dill Pickle,
dipped in batter and deep fried.
I chose to patronize the Pork Producers and our Swim Team.
The Pork Loins are smoked by the Pork Producers,
with the Swimmers and their Parents working in the Booth.
Hubby and I spent many hours in that hot booth,
slicing the meat, making sandwiches,
and selling to the customers.
It was a beautiful day out at the Fair.
Jack and his family arrived the following day,
and our first outing was to our Library.
His Mama loved the library as a little girl, we went there every week.
I wanted them to see our new facility. The Children’s library
is no longer a dungeon in the basement.
I also wanted to check out some books to read during their visit.
We enjoyed listening to Mama read while sitting in the sunshine.
All the toys and puzzles have been stored away due to Covid.
Jack enjoyed playing in the circles and bubbles…
…In between stories.
On the way out we ran the obstacle course
along the front sidewalk.
Another Hometown Landmark is The Twist Cone.
I like their Italian Ice with Ice Cream Twist…
Jack and his Mama got a chocolate vanilla Twist Cone,
and she had the Crunch Coat on hers.
Emily likes a Twister, Jake likes the Slush Whip,
and Nick ordered a Sundae.
On the ride over we told Jack
that he’d get eyes ๐ on his baby cone.
He seemed so very concerned about that idea,
so we explained that they were candy eyes and not real eyeballs.
He ate them so fast that I did not get a photo.
You scream, I scream, We all scream for Ice Cream!
Today, Labor Day, is the unofficial last day of summer.
Be sure to visit Twist Cone before it is too late!
Take care,
~Natalie
