Our Hometown Must-See ~Storybook Land ~Fun for Everyone ~Here’s my Report

Our entire Family was home together for four days.

A highlight was going out to Storybook Land.

We all like to ride the train.

If you are traveling anywhere near here, it will be well worth your time
to stop in and spend a few hours at Wylie Park and Storybook Land.

When these two girls were young, we went out to the park
three times a week in the summer.
We attended the Storybook Land Theatre Production
on Wednesday evenings. We participated in Story Time in the Castle
on Friday Mornings. And we went out at least one more time just to play.

So much to do, so little time.

Jack loves trains. This one required an adult to ride with him.
His daddy was the chosen one. Jack was first in line,
so he got to be the engineer.

Next summer, Henry will be walking and
maybe even running around after his big brother.

Jack loves Fire Trucks too. Jack loves everything on wheels!

Old McDonald had a Farm…and his barn is at Storybook Land
with Goats, Sheep, and Chickens.

They are pretty cute and so fun to watch.

On your mark…Get set… Gooooo…

Grandpa and Grandma knew how much our family enjoyed Storybook Land.
They gifted our girls with bricks on the Castle Floor.

Every time they come home for a visit,
we have to search for their names.

Whoever invented this infant swing is a genius.
How fun for a parent and their child to swing together.
I wish you could hear the giggles coming from little Henry.

Mama took her turn on the infant/parent swing.

Meanwhile, Jack and Aunty Emily were riding the bucking Dinosaur.

This bench swing was a safe choice
for Gigi to swing with the baby.

A challenging apparatus, for sure.
These sisters are close to the same size,
so could easily manage to balance the teeter totter.

Of course, Jack wanted to try too.
Changes the weight distribution a bit.

We went out to the park again, this time to enjoy the rides.
However, we did need to check in with our goat friends.

Papa was along this time and had quarters in his pocket
to buy a handful of their special food.
These goats know exactly where to hang out…
right by the dispenser so they get in on the first feeding.

Since school has started, the rides are only operating late in the day.
During the Summer Season, they run all day,
as many of the employees are students.
The balloon ride is at the end of the Yellow Brick Road in the Land of Oz.
Do you see Papa in the Balloon Basket?
Jack, Aunty Emily, and Uncle Jake are up near the treetops too.

My choice in rides was to ride the Carousel
with Jack and his Mama.

These two rode the roller coaster..twice. After the first time, Jack said “Again!”
So, of course, Papa had more tickets in his pocket.

Waiting at the Train Station, with great anticipation.

Riding the train is exciting for all ages.

This was our third outing to the park.
Emily needed to run a Timed Mile to submit to a Fitness Challenge
in which she and her Hubby are starting.

She chose the trail that goes around the lake, a familiar path,
as her HS Cross Country Team frequently ran there in the Summers.

Satisfied with her time, we were ready for some fun.
The Tin Man slide is part of the Land of Oz Haunted Forest.

This is the Jack and Jill hill, with a very long slide!

I guess all those years of piano lessons paid off.

There’s the train, taking another batch of visitors around the Park,
the Land of Oz, and the Wylie Park Zoo.

Gosh, we ate well during our mini Family Reunion…
looks like we packed on a few pounds.

It’s trendy to get your photo taken here with
the Wizard of Oz Characters.

Then you can jump onto the Yellow Brick Road
for your stroll through the Haunted Forest.
 Warning…The Talking Trees are terrifying.
The Flying Monkeys and Wicked Witch aren’t much better.

The kid size Zip Line was a hit with our big kids.

There’s the Wicked Witch of the West up in her castle.

We made it out of there safely…
“There’s No Place like Home”

I hope you enjoyed this little sneak peek of Wylie Park,
Storybook Land, and the Land of Oz.
I look forward to going again,
the next time our family comes home for a visit.

Take care,
~Natalie
